Bra Fitting Tips from Simone Pérèle

A recent undi-cover investigation by ‘Which?’ has revealed that after sending 11 researchers aged 25 – 75 to 70 high street stores, 71% of the bras they were sold were of the wrong size.

French lingerie house Simone Pérèle have put together some tips on getting the right bra:

  • Make sure you get fitted every 6 months
  • The centre piece should lie flat against the chest to ensure good support.
  • If you can pull the centre piece away from the body by more that ¼ inch the back size is too big.
  • The bra back band should be the same height as the centre piece.
  • Adjust the straps so they are supportive without being constrictive.
  • Ensure that the underwire is not on top of the breasts.
  • The cup should be visible and not cut into the breast.
  • Make sure you pay attention to your cycle as the bust changes during this time and sometimes a different size is needed.

Caring for your lingerie is just as important to ensure that you keep that good fit:

  • Simone Pérèle and a lot of other manufacturers use fine microfibers that are breathable and softeners that contain elastan.  So never use fabric softeners or dry your lingerie on direct heat such as radiators as it will close up the microfibers and make the materials non-breathable.
  • Hand wash your lingerie as modern materials can be sensitive and wires can fall out in the washing machine.
  • Always use a wash bag to wash your lingerie.
  • Do not wring the bra out as this will ruin the pads and wires.

Simone Perele’s Spring/ Summer 2010 collection is luxurious but practical and fits cup sizes from A to F available in a selection of styles and colours to suit every taste and occasion.
