Moda Lingerie & Swimwear Show Hailed a Success
The debut edition of Moda Lingerie & Swimwear saw three days of packed stands and strong orders as brands from across the lingerie, swimwear and hosiery sectors met with buyers from all corners of the UK and Ireland at the industry’s new national show. Held at the NEC Birmingham, the event played host to over 200 collections.
Ann-Marie Manley, marketing manager at lingerie & swimwear supplier Eveden told Lingerieblog.co.uk, “Moda Lingerie & Swimwear more than lived up to our expectations,”
“The footfall was fantastic and we saw customers from right the way across the UK. The stand was incredibly busy for the whole show, and we were very pleased to see an overall increase in order value compared to the same time last year.”
Peter Cronin, managing director of Panache, also saw an increase in orders against February 2009, he told us, “We had an amazing show at Moda,”
“All of our appointments made in advance of the event made it onto the stand, and as well as seeing all the right independents it’s the first time I’ve seen all the majors in attendance at a UK show. Moda looked fantastic, and we’re already looking forward to coming back in August.”
The Moda Catwalk theatre played host to regular catwalk shows throughout the three days, showcasing the key trends in lingerie, swimwear and nightwear for Autumn/Winter 2010.
On the opening day, Triumph also used the area as the venue for a spectacular one-off catwalk show and presentation to launch its Triumph Inspiration Award, a global competition for student lingerie designers being held in London later this year. On Monday, meanwhile, the catwalk played host to an exclusive appearance from TV style gurus Trinny and Susannah, whose shapewear collection was showcased on the Cette stand at the exhibition.
Moda Lingerie & Swimwear event director Penny Robinson told us, “We had a hugely positive response to the launch of Moda Lingerie & Swimwear, and the results of the show itself have now confirmed the industry’s faith in its new national show. Buyers and brands commented on the upbeat atmosphere and strong brand line-up, and the positive mood was more than reflected in the orders written on the stands. As organisers we’ve been thrilled by the performance of the show, and an event which so clearly has the support of the whole industry. It seems clear that this first edition has been a resounding success with brands genuinely looking forward to establishing a long-term future at Moda.”
The next edition of Moda takes place at the NEC Birmingham on 8-10 August 2010.
