What inspired you to become a lingerie designer?
My love for beautiful lingerie and my inability to find designs that ticked my desired boxes in my size.
What makes your designs different from others?
The fabrics, the designs. When designing, I was thinking of beautiful lingerie for a woman, not beautiful lingerie for a full bust woman. It allowed me to work without boundaries of what was possible.
Are there any celebrities wearing your designs and who are they?
No, but I think they will love it.
Do you wear your own products?
Yes, all my samples are made in my size, to make sure they fit perfectly are functional.
What’s your favourite lingerie brand (not your own!) and why?
La Perla and AP. I love their designs, colours, fabrics.. the way they brand is interpreted.
Do you think there’s enough choice for D+ sizes?
I think there is a lot of choice for D+ sizes in the market now, but I think there is still lots of room for more brands to fill all the gaps that have not been filled. Full bust women, should be able to choose, from, pretty, sexy, sophisticated, cheap, luxurious. Pretty much have all the choices their smaller counter parts have
Are you happy with the way lingerie is sized? If not what changes would you like to see?
I am happy with the way lingerie is sized for now, I wish sizes were universal, to avoid confusion. In some stores I am a 34DDD, and a 32G in others.
What advice would to give to an aspiring lingerie/swimwear designer?
The fashion industry is expensive to survive in. Ensure you can last for 3 seasons financially. And learn to do as much as you can on your own.
How do you get your inspirations for new collections?
Right now I am inspired by Home, I am Nigerian by birth. When I started designing the current collection, all I could think of was how beautiful and peaceful, it used to be when the sunset in my grandfathers house, that inspired the beautiful colours in the collection.
Do you use paper and pencil to design your first draft or is it all done on computer?
I work with another designer, all our designs are sketched on paper, before being transferred to a computer for the serious stuff.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a designer?
I have no idea. I tried the corporate world, I didn’t last very long 🙂
What are you working on right now?
Trying to get the new collection in front of buyers, and designing SS16
What makes a great lingerie model?
I would say her personality. We worked with an amazing model, and her bubbly yet sexy personality came through in the photos.
